Loc Notes

Wow, that bittersweet feeling of getting to the end of a project... This has been very fun and a huge learning curve for me. But anyway, not here to talk about my feelings hahaha.

Let's go to the game. First to say that Propeller Rat is such a fun game. I first sit down to familiarize with the game and couldn't stop playing until reaching the last world. It's that addictive!

This last project felt like a lot of what I did coming together, modifying the fonts, a couple of images that were a lot easier now to add the text. Going through the incredibly helpful Readme file that Squid's projects have (since they are on their GitHub for anybody to check out), using ldtk, and just going through the code with the knowledge from learning from SquidGod's youtube channel, tutorials and past games.

It was also really fun to think about the localization and translations for the planets, dialogs, rat name, levels... Honestly was a blast and flowed very easily. Was kinda proud of some funny choices and localization. Like bringing the chips/crisps to the Brazilian bolacha/biscoito conundrum. Everything flowed really easy.

I guess I talk more about it in the Portuguese notes.

And basically all I had to do was test everything in game, to see if anything was needed to adapt to avoid any overlaps, cutoffs etc... Which was simply so much fun to go through the whole game again. Like honestly made my day!

The only issue at the moment is with the leaderboards, because as I understand they only work for the Catalog downloaded games, so wasn't sure if that will ever work. And after having confirmation from Squid that indeed it just work as a Catalog feature I decided to leave it like that since it was all done already.

Anyway, that was the end for me. Feeling accomplished and most important learned so much for my own future localization works and games.

I'm excited to see what other games I'll do, and if you ever want me to localize any game/work in a project together just give me a shout and I'm game!
